DD Freedish 24th e-Auction to be held on 9th November 2015

DD Free Dish will conduct 24th online e-auction for vacant slots on platform. Now it is again very good chance for private TV channels to take part. Because DD Free dish has wide audience in all over India.

DD Free Dish DTH will migrate to GSAT15 Very Soon

This is good news for DD Free Dish subscribers that DD Free Dish DTH, very soon migrate to newly launched satellite GSAT15. GSAT15; satellite successfully launched on date of 10th November 2015.

Mr. CK Jain Dy. Director General od Doordarshan Engineer informed in official Twitter account that very soon India's Free direct to home service ( DD Free Dish) migrate to new satellite, although date has not decided yet.

Here is complete statement of Mr. Jain “Date for migrating DDFreedish from insat4b to GSAT15 has not yet been decided. A wide publicity will be done in advance before migrating."


We hope after this migration, Free Dish subscribers get more TV channels in MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 mode due to lots of space at satellite.

Zee Smile will be discontinued from the Broadcaster w.e.f 15.01.2016

Zee Smile which is running free-to-air on Dish TV on frequency 11172, Horizontal, 30000, showing Scroll bar running at Zee Smile that it will be discontinued from the broadcaster w.e.f 15.1.2015. in Scroll they wrongly mentioning 15.1.2015. I think it should be 15.1.2016.

How to scan or retune your DD Freedish Set-Top Box ?, very easy procedure to migrate DD Freedish DTH Set-top Box. दूरदर्शन फ्री डिश के सेट-टॉप बॉक्स मे नयी फ्रीक्वेन्सी भरने के तरीका.

हमे यह आपको सूचित करते हुए बहुत खुशी महसूस हो रही है की अब दूरदर्शन अपनी DTH सेवा को अपने पुराने सेटिलाइट INSAT4B से नये सेटिलाइट GSAT-15 पर ले जा रहा है. इसलिए दूरदर्शन ने अपनी सभी दूरदर्शन फ्री डिश धारको से अनुरोध किया है की वे अपने सेट-टॉप बॉक्स को १ फ़रवरी या उसके बाद दुबारा से टून करना ना भूले नही तो वो चेनलो को देख नही पाएँगे.

अपने सेट-बॉक्सस को टून (Tune /Scan / Search) करने के लिए नीचे दिए गये तरीके के अनुसार करे, या फिर आप सारे चेनलो को हटाकर, औउटोस्कन (Auto Scan) या ब्लाइंड स्कॅन (Blind Scan) कर सकते है तो आपके बॉक्स मे Automatic सारे चॅनेल्स आ जाएगें. स्यवं करने के लिए नीचे दिए गया तरीका अपनाए.

Procedure to retune/ rescan of Set Top Box for Existing Viewers:-
1. Press “Menu” Button on Remote of DD Free Dish Set Top Box.
2. Select “Installation”.
3. Go to “Manual Search”.
4. Select Satellite Name (Select /Edit)
5. Select / Change TP.
6. Enter Frequency ( for TP1) to 11090 MHz.
7. Edit/Change Symbol Rate to 29500 Ksps and Polarization to “Vertical”
8. SAVE / OK the setting and SCAN the SET TOP Box.
9. Press “EXIT” Button on Remote.
10. Similarly EDIT, SAVE and SCAN the following TP to get all TV and Radio Channels.

Star India to launch FTA Hindi movie channel under Utsav brand

MUMBAI: Gearing up for a bigger play in the free-to-air (FTA) market, Star India is planning to launch an FTA Hindi movie channel under the name Star Utsav Movies. Star Utsav is the FTA Hindi GEC brand of Star.
The channel is most likely to launch in May–June, a source close to the development told TelevisionPost.com. It will have a mix of old and new movies. “We are launching an FTA movie channel Star Utsav Movies in May or June. It will have a mix of old and new movies.

It will be available on Freedish. The channel is still under works,” the source stated. The broadcaster has secured the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) clearance to rename Star Gold Romance as Star Utsav Movies.
In February, it received a licence from the MIB under the name Star Gold Romance. Star has already booked a slot on Doordarshan’s FTA direct-to-home (DTH) platform Freedish for the channel. The source said that the plan was always to launch the FTA movie channel under the Star Utsav brand. “The licence was earlier under Star Gold Romance, but recently we got MIB clearance to change the name to Star Utsav Movies. The FTA movie channel was always supposed to be under the Star Utsav brand,” the source stated.

DD Direct Plus Testing 8 MPEG-4 channels with iCAS System

DD Freedish already announced last year that Prasar Bharati DTH will add new channels in MPEG-4 mode with CAS system. It means MPEG-4 channels will be not being completely free to air but after CAS it will be free for all users.
For receive these MPEG-4 with CAS channels users have to replace their set-top box with provided by Doordarshan authorized dealers.

DD and AIR spent Rs 206.95 cr for modernisation in FY16

NEW DELHI / TelevisionPost.com: Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) have spent Rs 206.95 crore (Rs 2.07 billion) for digitisation and adoption of new technologies in the fiscal ended 31 March 2016.
This means that Rs 189.68 crore (Rs 1.9 billion) was unspent as the government had allocated Rs 396.63 crore (Rs 3.97 billion) for the modernisation and upgrade of Doordarshan and AIR in FY16.
DD spent Rs 69.70 crore (Rs 697 million) and AIR Rs 137.25 crore (Rs 1.37 billion) out of the allocated amount during the financial year. The figures are on a provisional basis.
DD and AIR spent Rs 206.95 cr for modernisation in FY16

DD could have spent Rs 121.8 crore (Rs 1.22 billion) more as it was allocated Rs 191.50 crore (Rs 1.92 billion) for its modernisation and upgrade in FY16. Similarly, AIR had Rs 67.88 crore (Rs 678.8 million) unspent as it was allocated Rs 205.13 crore (Rs 2.05 billion).
During 2014–15, AIR and DD were allocated Rs 188.65 crore (Rs 1.89 billion) and Rs 155 crore (Rs 1.55 billion) while the actual spends were much higher at Rs 209.82 crore (Rs 2.1 billion) and Rs 153.37 crore (Rs 1.53 billion) respectively.

While in FY 2013–14 the government had allocated Rs 142.13 crore (Rs 1.42 billion) to AIR and Rs 156.01 crore (Rs 1.56 billion) to DD, the two organisations had spent Rs 169.35 crore (Rs 1.7 billion) and Rs 159.81 crore (Rs 1.6 billion) respectively. Responding to a question, Information & Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Arun Jaitley said in the Lok Sabha that the modernisation/upgrade of AIR and DD is a continuous process and that schemes in this regard are formulated and implemented from time to time.
 The modernisation/upgrade plan covers a broad spectrum, which, inter alia, includes digitalisation, adoption of new technologies on a par with international standards, replacement of ageing equipment and upgrade

Sony Adds FTA Hindi Movie Channel "Sony Wah" on DD Direct Plus

Sony Wah launched with the tagline ‘Filmo ka Mela’, Sony Wah airing a mix of movies from Sony’s existing library as well as latest films. Sony network launched Sony Wah channel for the rural market. Sony Pal has also seen huge growth in viewership ever since it launched on Freedish.

Star India’s FTA Hindi film channel Star Utsav Movies, which went on air on 21 May and Viacom18’s Rishtey Cineplex is also available on DD Freedish.
